Egg #12 – Empty Tomb

Jesus’ tomb was empty because he rose from the dead!

Matthew 28 New International Version (NIV)

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

On Easter Sunday and EVERYDAY, we celebrate, “He Is Risen!”

Without the cross and empty tomb, there is no Christian faith.  We have all disobeyed God and deserve punishment. Jesus, the Son of God, lived a perfect life and then died as a sacrifice in our place.  His resurrection from the grave proved that Jesus is who he says He is.  He conquered death and made a way for us to be forgiven of our sins so that we could have a right relationship with God and look forward to eternal life with Him.

If you are not sure about your relationship with God, here is the Good News- the Gospel.

  1. God Rules –  God created everything and He is in charge of everything.   Read Revelation 4:11
  2. We sinned –  Everyone sins or disobeys God.  Our sin separates us from God.  Read Romans 3:23
  3. God provided –  God is holy and must punish sin.  God sent His Son, Jesus, to take the punishment we deserve.  Read John 3:16
  4. Jesus gives – Jesus took our punishment for sin by giving His life, and He gives us His righteousness. God sees us as if we lived the perfect life Jesus lived. This is the best gift ever! Read 2 Corinthians 5:21
  5. We Respond – Everyone has a choice to make. “Will you trust Jesus as your Savior and Lord? You can turn from self and sin and turn to Jesus.” Read Romans 10:9-10.
