Lord, Teach Us to Pray is an intergenerational study on prayer using the Lord’s Prayer as the framework for teaching about prayer. When Jesus responded to the disciples’ request to teach them to pray, He gave them the Lord’s Prayer as a model of prayer. In it, Jesus shows us what should be in the believer’s heart when he comes to his Heavenly Father in prayer. Lord, Teach Us to Pray is not a curriculum about the correct formula for prayer—it is about God’s children learning to fellowship with Him in prayer.
We will be gathering together as families on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary to study the bible from 5:45-7:15 pm. Childcare will be provided for children 4 and under.
Secret Church is coming to Henderson’s Fist Baptist Church Friday, March 29th, from 6-midnight.
Heaven, Hell, and the End of the World
For Christians and non-Christians alike, these topics provoke a variety of emotions and reactions: curiosity, confusion, joy, hope, fear, anticipation, or maybe even anger. Sadly, these critical topics are often embellished, fantasized, diluted, abused, or altogether avoided in our day.
- So what does the Bible say about these things?
- Is the Apocalypse upon us?
- Do we know what heaven will be like?
- What about hell?
- Is it literal?
- Is it eternal?
- How do we even begin to think about these mind-blowing realities?
During Secret Church, we will explore God’s Word in search of answers to these questions and more. In the end, we will discover that despite of all the controversy surrounding heaven, hell, and the end of the world, several things are clear: Christ will come back, Satan will be defeated, all men will be judged, and the glory of God will cover the earth like the waters cover the sea. And by the end of the night, hopefully and humbly we will walk away with a cry on our lips and a testimony in our lives that echoes the final cry of the Scriptures: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God’s ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!
HFBC’s classes begin Wednesday evening, January 30th. Cost for the 9-week course is $89 per family with a $45 deposit due by January 20th. Sign-up sheets are located in the church office or you can call the church at 270-826-2332 for more information. Partial scholarships are available.

Never Too Late: Encouraging Faith in Your Adult Child
- For parents, grandparents, empty nesters, mentors, patriarchs, matriarchs and anyone who knows someone in this category
Like it or not, there are definite generational differences in the ways that faith has been passed down through families. Parents and grandparents from the last few generations grew up in a time when faith was not discussed as openly as it should have been. As a result, today’s parents did not learn how to discuss the most important issues with their children. This session will inspire you to connect with your adult child and your grandchildren by giving you practical ways to encourage faith in their hearts without feeling like you’re meddling or intruding.
