Romans 11.1-10

AMIDST WIDESPREAD GOSPEL REJECTION WE EXPECT TO SEE …                        

God’s People BEING Preserved         

v. 2a God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.” (esv)

v. 3 “… I alone am left, and they seek my life.” (esv)  

v. 4 I have kept for myself seven thousand men …” (esv)

Isaiah 43.12–13 “I am God … there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work, and who can turn it back?” (esv)

v. 5 So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.” (esv)

Men’s Hearts BEING Hardened

v. 7 Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened …” (esv)

Romans 3.10–12 There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.” (csb)                  

v. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.” (esv)

v. 9 “… their table become[s] a snare … trap … stumbling block and a retribution …” (esv)

Hebrews 2.1–3 … we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away … how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?” (csb)
