1 Corinthians 1.17-25

Mark 12.24 “… the reason you are wrong, [is] because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God …” (esv) 

v. 18a “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (niv) 

v. 17 “… preach the gospel … not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” (esv) 

THE CROSS IS FULL OF GOD’S POWER TO … 

Save The Sinner WITHOUT DECEPTION

Jeremiah 6.14 “They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.” (niv)

What We Need To Appreciate:

(1)  Who God Is: Really Truthful  – 

Hebrews 4.13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (niv)

(2)  Who We Are:  Really Sinful – 

2 Corinthians 5.21 “For our sake he madehim to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (esv)

Love The Loveless WITHOUT RESERVATION

John 1.10-11 “… the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.  He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.” (esv) 

Romans 5.10 “… while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son …” (esv)

Forgive The Fallen WITHOUT CONDEMNATION

Romans 8.1 “… there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus ..” (niv)

1 Peter 2.24 “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

John 8.36 “… if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (esv) 

v. 23–24 “… but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called … Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” (esv)
