PUTTING THE PROPER PRICE ON PRAYER

PUTTING THE PROPER PRICE ON PRAYER

PUTTING THE PROPER PRICE ON PRAYER
John 14.11-17

vv. 13–14 “Whatever you ask in my name … If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (esv)

OUR PRAYERS ARE PRECIOUS BECAUSE …

Relational PRAYERS ARE Rare

The Man Born Blind: John 9.31 “We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.”

Isaiah 59.1-2 “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” (esv)

Dependent PRAYERS ARE Divine

v. 12 “… whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do …” (esv)

v. 11 “Believe me … or else believe on account of the works themselves.” (esv)

vv. 16-17 “… I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth …” (esv)

Romans 8.26 “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (esv)

Ephesians 6.18 “… praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.” (esv)

Romans 8.34 “Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.”
