Why was Baal Worship Attractive?

  • Approved by the Powerful
  • Presented Itself as Practical  
  • Promised to be Pleasurable  
  • Appeared to be Inevitable  

v. 22 Elijah: “I, even I only, am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men.” (esv)

2nd His Challenge: v. 21“If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” (esv)

1 Peter 4.17 “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (esv)
