CULTIVATING AN “END-TIMES” DISPOSITION
1 Thessalonians 5.1-11
Waiting For Jesus – Part 10

AN “END-TIMES” DISPOSITION MEANS BEING …

AWAKE BECAUSE The End Will Come Suddenly

v. 3 “While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them …” (esv)

v. 4 “But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.” (esv)

v. 6-7 “So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake … For those who sleep, sleep at night …” (esv)

v. 2 “… you … are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” (esv)

Acts 1.7 “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But … you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.” (esv)

SOBER BECAUSE Judgment Will Continue Inescapably

v. 3 “… sudden destruction will come upon them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (csb)

v. 8 “… let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.” (esv)

vv. 9–10 “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.” (esv)
